The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) was designed by Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio’s in London, one of the world’s most prominent designers. The museum is the first major museum in Africa dedicated to contemporary art, offering ground-breaking curatorial content and unique educational programming. The Museum will feature changing local exhibitions, blockbuster international touring exhibitions while an A-grade Climate control system ensures sensitive exhibitions from Rubens to Rembrandt can be hosted.

Zeitz MOCAA offers over one hundred galleries spread over nine floors, dedicated to a large cutting edge permanent collection, temporary exhibitions and Centres for Art Education, Curatorial Excellence, Performative Practice, Photography, the Moving Image and the Costume Institute. Museum facilities include bookshops, reading rooms, rest areas, rooftop sculpture garden, a restaurant on the roof and coffee shop on the ground floor.

The Zeitz Food Restaurant opening 1 December 2017, is a truly breath taking venue and will be able to accommodate up to 200 guests with a 270-degree view of Cape Town. The restaurant also looks out onto the museum’s wonderful rooftop sculpture garden. The Museum Shop will showcase a selection of art-led contemporary design, books, prints, stationery, gifts, jewellery and fashion by leading design companies from the African continent and beyond. The Museum is open from Wednesdays to Mondays from 10:00 to 18:00 and closed on Tuesdays. Our Southern Africa team is able to pre-book tickets for guests along with their accommodation and other touring excursions.
