FULL LENGTH TOUR DESCRIPTION
In the crowded maze of cobbled alleyways that comprise the old Chinese city of Shanghai, catch a glimpse of part of this city's rich history. Here, visit the Old French Concession area. The French Concession is the area of Shanghai once designated for the French. Today, the area´s central Huaihai Road is a busy shopping street, but the tree-lined avenues and their many Tudor mansions still retain an air of the "Paris of the East".

Next, proceed to the new Shanghai Museum, located at Renmin, or People's Square. Opened in 1995 and regarded as the world’s finest showcase of Chinese art and antiquities, the museum contains an excellent and well-displayed collection of old bronzes and ceramics as well as paintings and scrolls. Documenting 5,000 years of Chinese history, this museum’s collections include galleries with ancient sculptures, jade, coins, Ming and Qing furniture and Chinese seals.

The Bund, also called the Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu (East Zhongshan 1st Road), is a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. It starts from the Baidu Bridge, which is at the connecting point of the Huangpu River and the Suzhou Creek, to the East Jinling Road and winds a 1500 meters (less than one mile) length. Walking along the Bund, which is at the west shore of the Huangpu River, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower can be seen on the opposite side and also the Jin Mao Tower.

Lunch will be served at Meilongzhen Restaurant. Established in 1938, Meilongzhen is a Shanghai institution that still draws the crowds after all these years. Its cuisine has evolved over time from strictly regional fare to one incorporating the spices, vinegars and chilies of Sichuan cooking. After lunch, you will be walking on the famous street in Shanghai – Nanjing Shopping Street. China's premier shopping street, 3.4-mile-long Nanjing Road, starts at the Bund in the east and ends in the west at the junction of Jingan Temple and Yan'an West Street. Today Nanjing Road is a must-see metropolitan destination attracting thousands of fashion-seeking shoppers from all over the world.
