In 2009 film director James Cameron captivated the cinema going world with his magical masterpiece, “Avatar” which introduced audiences to the Pandora Galaxy a world of ethereal floating mountains. The inspiration for his galaxy exists in reality, in China and it is the region of Zhangjiajie now a national destination sensation for the Chinese. Located in northwest Hunan province the area contains the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, part of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area which was invested as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. Day 1 - Arrive Zhangjiajie
Arrive today into the Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport where you are met and transferred to your lovely hotel.
After checking in enjoy the balance of the day at leisure to enjoy as you please.

Day 2 - Zhangjiajie
Begin your day with a visit to Yuanjiajie, part of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, and discover the breath-taking view that served as the inspiration for the floating mountains of the movie Avatar. From the observation platform, take in the mountainous pillars and peaks, shrouded in mist and rising from the valley below. Some explorers described this view as an army of men, standing strong against the enemy. From here, make a stop at Helong Park to see the Bronze image of General Helong to honour the memory of this great military leader. Continue onto Xihai (West Sea) for more spectacular views – gaze across the craggy peaks forming different shapes and mantled in a lush cloak of vegetation that inspires its name, “sea of trees”. In spring or summer or after the autumn rain, low cloud rolls in, completely enveloping the peaks. The view is so magnificent that it is known as the “sea of clouds”. You will be able to enjoy a ride up to the summit by cable car and then return via the world’s only mountain elevator.
Lunch today is under your own arrangements and after sightseeing, you are transferred back to your hotel around 17:00.

Day 3 - Zhangjiajie
Your day will start with a hike along the lovely Golden Whip Stream said to have the most enchanting scenery in all of the Zhangjiajie region. The stream, which is 5.7 kilometres (or 3.5 miles) was named after the Golden Whip Rock which is located near the stream.

This afternoon visit Huangshizhai Village (also known as Yellow Lion Village or Yellow Stone Village), named after a huge mountain that rises up in the middle of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. There is plenty to see in this part of the park and legend has it that a powerful elixir of longevity was made here during the Western Han dynasty (206 BCE – 8 AD). Situated at an elevation of 1,080 meters (3,543 feet) Huangshizhai Village serves as a huge viewing platform covering 20 hectares 50 acres), affording visitors dramatic panoramic views over the forest of pinnacles and peaks. From here you can see the Six Wonders Pavilion, the Star Gathering Stage, the Five Fingers Peaks, the Front Garden, Echo Wall and much more.
Later this afternoon, after taking in as much scenery as you can of this magnificent wonderland you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 4 - Zhangjiajie
This morning meet your guide and transfer to beautiful Baofeng Lake which is situated in the heart of the towering Baofeng Mountains. The lake sits at an altitude of 585 meters (1,919 feet) and has an average depth of 72 meters (236 feet). The crystalline waters are pure and either collected as rainwater or drawn from the many pure mountain springs the empty into the lake.

Following lunch you visit what many consider to the true highlight of a visit to Zhangjiajie, Tianmen Mountain. This beautiful mountain pinnacle is considered to be the soul and symbol of Zhangjiajie. Rising to a summit of 1,518 metres (4,980 feet) it is the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie and is also called, “Heaven’s Gate Mountain” due its natural setting and appearance – local legend recounts that this is the closest place on earth to the heavens.
Enjoy the stunning scenery and dare yourself to walk across the world’s longest glass bridge and then walk around the world’s longest glass walkway around a mountain – the scenery and the thrills of a visit to Zhangjiajie are hard to find anywhere else in China.
You will then transfer to the Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport and board your flight to your next destination.
