Today you will enjoy a full day sightseeing by private vehicle with English-speaking driver, meeting your expert local guide in the great city of Syracuse. The Greek Theatre in Syracuse is one of the most important examples of theatre architecture anywhere and for centuries it was the centre of Syracusan life. A visit is completed with the Roman Theatre, a venue for entertainment above the Greek Theatre which served a religious purpose.

Also visit the charming neighbourhood of Syracuse known as Ortygia. This little island connected to the main city of Syracuse is a listed UNESCO World heritage site and has always been a strong focal point of the city as its history dates back to the 6th century BC.

Visit the ancient stone quarry carved in Temenites hill to experience “Dionysus’ Ear”. The S shaped chamber and teardrop shaped entrance is the shape of an ear, creating a natural cavern of flawless acoustics.  The name of Dionysus’ Ear was coined by the painter Caravaggio in 1586.
