Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Santiago

Upon arrival to Santiago International Airport you will be met by a local representative whom will assist you in collecting your luggage and passing custom procedures before continuing to your hotel in Santiago to check-in to The Singular Santiago.

This intriguing new addition to Santiago's vibrant Lastarria area features a slightly left field mix of decoration that is very appealing. The overall atmosphere is understated and classic; in the restaurant area you'll have the feeling of at once being in a gentleman's club and also a Hong Kong speakeasy. Step outside the hotel and you'll find yourself in Lastarria, brimming with lively cafés and a cosmopolitan air. It's an excellent choice to explore the older sights of the city whilst still having access to more modern areas of the city thanks to the excellent transport links of the nearby Metro Universidad Catòlica.

In the afternoon, you'll get to experience one of the most developed cities in South America. Santiago combines the urban and the classic, in both its architecture and atmosphere. This heritage comes to life through iconic city sights such as the Moneda Presidential Palace, designed by the Italian designer, Joaquin Toesca. The Plaza de Armas is the city's most famous square, surrounded by important and beautiful buildings such as the Cathedral and Central Post Office.

A few blocks away, you'll find the Pre-Columbian Museum with over 700 exhibits of pre-hispanic artwork and relics from diverse cultures including the Mayans, Aztecs and the Mapuches - from the south of Chile. Your tour will continue to one of the most important parts of the city, the San Cristobal Hill. The hill is recognized as one of the largest urban parks, topped by a stunning 72 foot tall statue of the Virgin Mary.  At the end of this tour, you'll visit the Pueblo de los Dominicos handicraft market, which resembles a colonial village. You'll find all sorts here, from hand knit sweaters to lapis lazuli to art and even pet animals - an excellent end to this comprehensive sightseeing tour of Santiago!

The hotel is located on a hill in the Te Miro Oone sector, on 9.6 hectares of land that faces the sea. The hotel is situated in the southwestern zone of the island, 5.6 km from Hanga Roa - the only town on the island - and it will act as a base for exploring this attractive and mysterious island, home to a culture whose origins and evolution remain unexplained. Volcanic rock, native to the island and always used by the island's inhabitants in construction, and wood from the mainland are the principal materials. The hotel has 30 guestrooms that spread out from central areas that house reception, living areas, a bar, kitchen and services. Next to the common areas is the Casa de Baños Hare Vai, with a pool, massage salon and open-air Jacuzzis.

Day 3 & 4 - Easter island

Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, is the farthest island from any populated land on the planet. It has been a place full of attraction and mystery ever since its discovery. Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a distance of about 3,600 kilometers (2,236 miles) from the coast of South America, Rapa Nui is a great volcanic cone that was pushed up from the ocean floor to 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level. This tiny triangle of land was the birthplace of a fascinating civilization. Hundreds of Moai – giant statues sculpted from rock – play silent witness to this fascinating history. Many of the statues today have been re-erected above their ceremonial platforms called ahu, but just decades ago the statues lay toppled over and scattered about the island. Many were left half-finished in the rock quarry of the Rano Raraku Volcano.

Today visitors can interact with the descendants of this culture, who for generations have maintained their ancestor’s habits and have kept their traditions alive.

Every evening Explora guides meet with you in the bar/living room area of the hotel. There, they will explain all of the planned explorations available for the next day and help you choose the best exploration for you according to your interests and abilities. The maximum group size is 8 travelers, along with a bilingual Explora guide. Their treks, bicycle rides, and explorations in the ocean (snorkeling, fishing using traditional methods, and boat trips), enable you to gain an in-depth understanding of the culture and geography of Rapa Nui, its ancestral, megalithic figures, the Moai, and the special idiosyncrasies of its people.

Originally built in 1885, Santa Rita Winery's Casa Real Hotel is a wonderful property surrounded by lush gardens, mixing contemporary décor with antique lamps, rugs and furniture. A stunning neo-Gothic chapel on the property offers a quiet place for reflection, as does the pretty patio with its bubbling fountain. There is also an old-fashioned game parlor with a piano and a billiards table imported from England. The old master house, owned by Domingo Fernández Concha, who founded Viña Santa Rita, has a 40-hectare park created in 1882 by Guillermo Renner, a French landscape designer. In the park, discover hundred-year-old trees of different varieties, such as chestnut, cedar, olive, almond, orange and lemon, as well as a number of statues, some of a mythological origin and others representing the four seasons.
