Day 1 - Welcome to Santiago

This afternoon you’ll get to experience one of the most developed cities in South America. Santiago combines the urban and the classic, in both its architecture and atmosphere. This heritage comes to life through iconic city sights such as the Moneda Presidential Palace, designed by the Italian designer, Joaquin Toesca. The Plaza de Armas is the city's most famous square, surrounded by important and beautiful buildings such as the Cathedral and Central Post Office.
A few blocks away, you'll find the Pre-Columbian Museum with over 700 exhibits of pre-Hispanic artwork and relics from diverse cultures including the Mayans, Aztecs and the Mapuches - from the south of Chile. Your tour continues to one of the most important parts of the city, the San Cristobal Hill. The hill is recognized as one of the largest urban parks, topped by a stunning 72 foot tall statue of the Virgin Mary.  At the end of your tour, visit the Pueblo de los Dominicos handicraft market, which resembles a colonial village. You'll find all sorts here, from hand-knitted sweaters to lapis lazuli to art and even pets - an excellent end to this comprehensive sightseeing tour of Santiago!
The Singular Santiago is an intriguing new addition to the city's vibrant Lastarria area.. The overall atmosphere is understated and classic; in the restaurant area you'll have the feeling of at once being in a gentleman's club and also a Hong Kong speakeasy. Step outside the hotel and you'll find yourself in Lastarria, brimming with lively cafés and a cosmopolitan air. It's an excellent choice to explore the older sights of the city whilst still having access to more modern areas of the city thanks to the excellent transport links of the nearby Metro Universidad Católica.

Day 2 - Santiago

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then choose from one of the following excursions.

Full-day tour to Valparaiso.
Located along the central coast are two of Chile's most important beachside cities: Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. Be amazed by the colorful port city of Valparaiso, now a mix of port and university city. Famous for its stacked hills and winding stairs with incredible street art, this UNESCO World Heritage city takes you back in time yet has a modern, forward-looking feel. As you climb the winding stone stairs or head up in one of the famous funiculars, you'll enjoy incredible views of the bay and surrounding German-style homes. The city tour will show you the important places such as Plaza de la Victoria, the famous Turri Clock and the Naval Academy.  A highlight of this tour is visiting the home of Chile's Nobel Prize-winning poet, Pablo Neruda (1904- 1973).  Find a restaurant along the cobble streets; lunch isn't included so your guide will provide recommendations. Take the funicular down and then we'll head just up the coast to Viña del Mar.
Full-day Casablanca Valley
The Casablanca Valley is a sub-region of the Aconcagua Valley. Its vineyards have earned a worldwide recognition due to the high quality of its grapes and wines, being the grapes best to produce the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines, and lighter red grapes to produce the Pinot Noir, a variety du jour. Our first appointment today is at Bodegas Re. In the 2008 harvest season Pablo Morandé and his family decided to work together to develop a new concept in wines, in which history is the cornerstone of modernity. Bodegas Re has preserved the old family's clay vessels from the Maule Valley in the south of Chile in order to continue producing a number of their wines within them, demonstrating that it is still possible to make wines of excellence, using ancient techniques and modern winemaking knowledge.
Your tour will continue to vineyard Matetic. This vineyard has its own unique take on wine-making, focusing on organic and bio-dynamic processes. The climate, soil and light in this part of the country produce high quality wines and the tour goes into detail about the techniques used to capitalize on all of this before, of course, letting you take part in a tasting to judge the wines for yourself. Enjoy wine tasting of their exquisite wines before returning to Santiago.

Day 3 - Easter Island

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then your guide meets you in the lobby, collects your luggage and assists you with check-out procedures. You are then transferred to Santiago International Airport to board your onward flight to East Island (domestic flight not included).
Upon arrival at the local airport of the island “Mataveri”, you are welcomed by your local guide and transferred to Posada Mike Rapu, where you spend the next three nights.

Posada Mike Rapu is located on a hill in the Te Miro Oone area of Mataveri. It is situated within 9.6 hectares of land, 5.6km from Hanga Roa – the only town on the island. The hotel is a perfect base for exploring this mysterious island, home to a culture whose origins and evolution remain unexplained. Volcanic rock, native to the island and always used by the island's inhabitants in construction, and wood from the mainland are the principal materials. The hotel has 30 guestrooms that spread out from central areas that house reception, living areas, a bar, kitchen and services. Next to the common areas is the Casa de Baños Hare Vai, with a pool, massage salon and open-air Jacuzzis.

Day 4 - Easter Island

Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, is the farthest island from any populated land on the planet. It has been a place full of attraction and mystery ever since its discovery. Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a distance of about 3,600 kilometers (2,236 miles) from the coast of South America, Rapa Nui is a great volcanic cone that was pushed up from the ocean floor to 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level. This tiny triangle of land was the birthplace of a fascinating civilization. Hundreds of Moai – giant statues sculpted from rock – play silent witness to this fascinating history. Many of the statues today have been re-erected above their ceremonial platforms called ahu, but just decades ago the statues lay toppled over and scattered about the island. Many were left half-finished in the rock quarry of the Rano Raraku Volcano.
Today visitors can interact with the descendants of this culture, who for generations have maintained their ancestor’s habits and have kept their traditions alive.
Every evening Explora guides meet with you in the bar/living room area of the hotel. There, they will explain all of the planned explorations available for the next day and help you choose the best exploration for you according to your interests and abilities. The maximum group size is eight travelers, along with a bilingual Explora guide. Their treks, bicycle rides, and explorations in the ocean (snorkeling, fishing using traditional methods, and boat trips), enable you to gain an in-depth understanding of the culture and geography of Rapa Nui, its ancestral, megalithic figures, the Moai, and the special idiosyncrasies of its people.
