Ananda in the Himalayas

NARENDRA NAGAR

Hotel overview

Ananda is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning, health and self - contentment’. The name could not be more appropriate for this gracious spa resort, which is surrounded by Himalayan foothills and overlooks the Ganges, in a region famed for its spiritual teachings and philosophy. The public areas of Ananda are located in part of the Palace of the Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal, who still resides here. An annexe, built in 1910 for the visiting Viceroy, houses the reception, library, tea lounge, Indian restaurant and one of the oldest billiards tables in India.
