Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Barcelona

Upon arrival at the Barcelona airport you will be met in the arrivals hall by your driver, privately transferred to your hotel, where you will be welcomed to Spain by local Guardian Angel and you will be assisted with check-in procedures.

Overnight: El Palace Barcelona

 

Day 2 - Barcelona

Today enjoy a morning sightseeing tour (4 hours) of Barcelona with your English-speaking guide and private vehicle to discover the masterpieces of Catalonia's most famous architect, Gaudí: the Casa Mila with its wave-like facade and the impressive, but unfinished, Sagrada Familia Basilica. Alternatively, you may prefer to visit the Parc Guell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Gaudi's most colourful creations.


Optional Extra 1

After a leisurely lunch you will be taken to learn about the aphrodisiacal properties of the cocoa bean. At Barcelona's chocolate museum, learn about the history of the cocoa bean through to its present day use while enjoying a glass of red wine.


Optional Extra 2

Alternatively this afternoon  transfer to the true heart of the old city  - the medieval Gothic Quarter.  Visit the magnificent 13th-century Cathedral, notable for its fine Gothic chapels, medieval choir stalls and shady cloister, or the Church of Santa Maria del Mar.  You will also visit the Picasso Museum, where some of the painter's earliest works are housed in the remarkable setting of a part-Gothic and part-Roman Palace.

Day 3 - Barcelona - Montserrat - Barcelona

Today enjoy a half day (5 hours) sightseeing tour with your private vehicle and English-speaking guide to the shrine of the Black Virgin of Montserrat, high in the peaks of the Serra de Montserrat. Here you will visit the domed Basilica and the Museum, which features some old masters, among them paintings by El Greco and Caravaggio.


Optional Extra

This evening, make your own way to the port, where you embark on your own private, romantic sunset cruise.  Weather permitting you may wish to have a swim or try your hand at sailing, before enjoying cocktails as you watch the sun set on the coast of Spain

Day 4 - Barcelona -Seville

Today you will be privately transferred to Barcelona station by your driver to board a first class train AVE train to Seville. Upon arrival at Seville station you will be met by your driver and Guardian Angel and be privately transferred to your hotel.

Day 5 - Seville

Meet your English-speaking guide today for a 4-hour walking tour of Seville. Visit the 15th-century cathedral, one of the most breathtaking in all of Christendom, and see La Giralda, Seville's most famous monument. The Moorish tower was erected as a minaret in the 12th century. Visit the Alcazar, a magnificent 14th-century Mudejar palace which is one of the oldest royal residences in Europe still in use. You will also enjoy a walk through the Barrio de Santa Cruz, a maze of narrow streets, whitewashed houses, small squares and flower filled patios.


This evening, your driver will take you to the Tablao El Arenal for an authentic flamenco show. The Tablao El Arenal is situated in a building dating from the 17th Century and its architecture and decoration are typically Andalusian. Enjoy a complimentary beverage during the show. After the show transfer back to your hotel by private vehicle. 


Optional Extra: Book a memorable private flamenco lesson for two, learn the skills of this very traditional Spanish dance.

Day 6 - Seville – Cordoba - Seville

Depart Seville this morning with your private vehicle and English-speaking driver for a half day excursion (up to 5 hours) to Córdoba. Upon arrival in Córdoba meet your local guide for a 2½-hour walking tour of the attractive, whitewashed streets of this medieval Moorish city, the heart of which is the old Jewish quarter. Visit the magnificent Mezquita, built between the 8th and 10th centuries and considered to be one of the most extraordinary buildings in all of Europe. In the 1520s, a Christian Baroque nave was constructed in the heart of the mosque, which fortunately is so large that the unity of the building was not destroyed by this resplendent but anomalous addition. After your walking tour enjoy time at leisure to explore the city further on your own, and perhaps enjoy a leisurely lunch, before being transferred back to Seville.

Day 7 - Seville - Marbella

Depart Seville this morning with your English speaking driver and transfer to Marbella. En route enjoy a leisure stop in Ronda (for up to 3 hours), situated on a rock high above the River Guadiaro. Ronda is famous for its position and views. It is built around a ravine 360 ft deep and 210 ft across, dividing the old Moorish town from the "new town" which came into being after the Christian Reconquest of 1485. You may wish to stroll the narrow streets and visit the Plaza de Toros (bullring), one of the oldest in Spain, before continuing to Marbella.

Day 8 - Marbella

Today is at your leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities and the sea.

Optional Extra : Meet your private vehicle with driver and Guardian Angel for a transfer to the Gibraltar border. Your Guardian Angel assists you with the border crossing, after which you meet your next private vehicle and English-speaking guide for a half-day (4-hour) tour of Gibraltar. Take the cable car up the Rock. See the famous Barbary apes. Visit Michael's Cave, a series of underground chambers with stalagmites and stalactites. After your tour, you will need to walk back across the border to meet your Spanish vehicle with driver to return to Marbella.

Day 9 - Depart

Today you will be privately transferred to Malaga airport
