Walk the Cotswold Way
Duration: 18 days
Highlights: The Cotswold Way, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Cirencester, Stonehenge, Bath
Walk the entire length of the Cotswold Way during this 18-day tour. Days of walking will be interspersed with sightseeing, taking in some beautiful Cotswold villages along the way, as well as the Georgian city of Bath and the wondrous Stonehenge.
This 102-mile walking trial was specially designed to take in as many as possible of the finest sights to be seen in one of England's most picturesque areas. The route begins in the market town of Chipping Campden in the north and winds its way down in a south-westerly direction along the Cotswold escarpment towards Bath, passing historical points of interest, ranging from the Neolithic burial chamber of Belas Knap, the Roman heritage of Bath itself, and the medieval ruins of Hailes Abbey, to the Tudor connections of Sudeley Castle.
The trail is flanked on both sides by stunning visual scenery, an enchanting patchwork of undulating hills and cottages that might easily be considered the very representation of the quintessential English countryside, for which the Cotswold Way has been officially designated as one of the few National Trails in England.
