Visit the home of a spiritual healer in the heart of Bali’s rice-paddy-filled villages. Ida Bagus Dharma is a Hindu priest from the highest caste of Balinese society. Join him for a morning walk through his peaceful village to learn about the agricultural lifestyle as well as the subak irrigation system which was developed through generations of Indonesian rice farmers. Soak up the serenity as you wander through rice fields, spice plantations and a tropical forest. The revered priest is also skilled at the ancient art of keliki painting and you can view his inspirational work at his home. Sit down with the priest for a simple lunch where you can continue chatting about the Hindu religion and Balinese art.
After lunch, travel with the priest to a holy place in Sebatu village to experience a Balinese purification ritual. The “Melukat” ritual helps to heal your mind, body and soul by washing away negative energy and restoring peace and balance to your life. Walk down 200 steps to a natural spring waterfall to receive a blessing from the priest and bathe in the holy water.
